St. Petersburg, Florida -- Today's the day to quit smoking  for good. In honor of the 34th Annual Great American Smokeout, 10 Connects Anchor Reginald Roundtree is committing not to light up.

The Tobacco Free Partnership of Hillsborough County stopped by Wednesday with a survival kit and tips for Reg to help him kick the habit. They say having a cinnamon peppermint or whole clove spice under the tongue has helped some people to avoid the urge to smoke.

According to Tobacco Free Florida, about 3 million adults in the state smoke. That's 21 percent of our population. Nearly 29,000 Floridians a year die from smoking. It kills more people than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined.

Today, some health centers are giving smokers an extra incentive to quit by trading their pack of cigarettes for a coupon for a cold turkey sandwich from Honeybaked Ham.

Tampa Bay moms are joining Reg in his challenge.
