Pinellas County, Florida - A Pinellas County deputy was involved in a head-on crash early Saturday morning. The crash happened just after midnight, investigators say Deputy Jana Demperio was driving on Bayshore Blvd, just south of Cedar Street in Dunedin when a car driven by Marie Spirtos crashed into her cruiser. Deputies say Spirtos was driving in the wrong direction.
Deputy Demperio was driven to the hospital by another deputy where she was treated and released. Spirtos was taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
