Pinellas Park, Florida -- A car collided with a bicyclist on Park Boulevard Wednesday afternoon, closing two of the three westbound lanes near Starkey Road, the sheriff's office said.

The bicyclist, identified as Paul D. Lynn, 65, of Clearwater, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the driver, David Gentner, 64, of St. Petersburg, stopped at the stop sign on 90th Avenue and proceeded onto Park Boulevard when Lynn rode his bike off the sidewalk and into the passenger side of the car.  He fell off the bike and struck his head on the ground.
