Boy, girl, struck by car in Spring Hill

Spring Hill, Florida -- A boy and a girl are hospitalized after being struck by a car on Coronado Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said Wednesday night.

Jason Colon, 12 and Caitlin Denton, 15, both of Spring Hill, were walking with the flow of traffic on the roadway when they were hit. The FHP said the driver, Daniel Sirico, 23, of Jacksonville, told troopers he did not see them.

Colon suffered critical injuries and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Denton was treated for serious injuries at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill.

There were no charges pending completion of the accident investigation, the FHP said.
