Sex predator on probation arrested trying to flee police

Tampa, Florida -- A sexual predator free on probation was arrested Tuesday night while trying to run away from an officer checking on his new address, police said.

He was identified as David Lovette, 50, of 2318 N Whittier Street, Tampa.

Police say an officer researching new sexual predators in his patrol zone discovered Lovette and decided to made a "sexual predator check" at his residence.

The officer discovered Lovette had failed to change his address on his license, which is a crime and a violation of his probation.

When the officer went to arrest Lovette, he tried to run away. He was apprehended by another officer, who used his taser to take him into custody, police said.

Lovette was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Resist w/o Violence. He was also on probation for Sexual Battery and his probation was violated.
