Tampa, Florida -- Former Tampa City Councilman Bob Buckhorn says he will run in the 2011 race for Tampa mayor.
He is expected to make an official annoucement on Monday morning.
Buckhorn says his priorities will be job creation, expediting permitting, lessening of government red tape and development of business.
"I firmly believe that creating jobs and moving this economy forward requires more than just vision - it requires a depth of knowledge and a passion for the job," said Buckhorn. "It requires the courage to stand up to cynics and the conviction to do what is right even when it is not popular. And, frankly, that is who I am."
"We need jobs now, and I intend to tackle that issue head on," Buckhorn added. "You can count on that. It will be my highest priority."
He made a run for the same seat eight years ago against current Mayor Pam Iorio.
