Officer Rolla L. Standau was killed in 1963
Tampa Police - On, November 29, 1963, Officer Rolla Standau, 22, had crossed the Holtsinger Bridge heading south on North Boulevard when a car hit his motorcycle head-on at Union Street and killed the patrolman of one and a half years.
Officer Standau, whose father and namesake also served as an officer, had been recommended for a Medal of Honor for saving a drowning man in the Hillsborough River.
