Tampa Police - On September 25, 1975, Detective Kenneth Berlin was assigned to the Vice Control Bureau and was working in an undercover capacity. After completing their shift, Detective Berlin and Detective Louie Jones were traveling on Memorial Highway, returning to Police Headquarters.

On approaching Cypress Avenue, Detective Berlin drove into a construction area, which was the construction of an overpass at Cypress. Detective Berlin's vehicle struck a stack of steel construction rods. Detective Berlin was killed instantly. His partner, Detective Louie Jones was injured but recovered from his injuries.
