Curtis Stokes and Yvonne Yolie Capin appointed to Tampa City Council

Tampa, Florda - Curtis Stokes and Yvonne Yolie Capin have been appointed to the Tampa City Council.

Stokes will replace Linda Saul-Sena in representing district 3, while Capin replaces John Dingfelder in representing district 4. Saul-Sena and Dingfelder resigned from the city council to run for the Hillsborough County Commission.

Stokes, the current Director of Community Affairs for Fifth Third Bank was selected from a pool of 39 applicants.

Capin, a self employed real estate manager and jewelry designer was selected from a pool of 27 applicants.

Monday morning each applicant was given two minutes before the city council to make their case for the appointment.

Stokes and Capin will be sworn-in on Thursday and serve until next March.

Stokes, the former President of the Hillsborough County Branch of the NAACP says he is not sure if he will run for the seat next year. Capin, who ran unsuccessfully in 2008 for state Representative says she will not try and stay on after next March.
