Tampa, Florida -- If you don't pay child support, you can go to jail, even if you are a professional athlete.
Former Tampa Bay Rays player Elijah Dukes was arrested Monday for allegedly not paying child support to two different women.
Per a court ruling back in January 2009, Dukes was supposed to pay $40,000 a month in support and alimony.
Dukes has a history of other arrests, including battery and drug charges.
Dukes played for the then-named Devil Rays in 2007, after being in the team's farm system since 2003. He was traded to the Washington Nationals that off-season. Dukes currently plays for the Newark Bears, a professional baseball team that is not affiliated with Major League Baseball.
