Orlando, Florida - A University of Central Florida police officer shot outside a UCF football game will be laid to rest tomorrow in Tarpon Springs.
The U-S Department of Veterans Affairs denied a request from Mario Jenkins' widow to have him buried in a military cemetery.
Military officials say Jenkins' seven months of training with the US Marine Corps and his six years in the Reserve don't meet the 24-month active-duty requirement.
State legislators say the asked President Bush for help, but didn't get a reply.
Family members say they can't wait any longer and need closure.
Jenkins was shot and killed while investigating underage drinking at tailgate parties during a September 24th football game.
Jenkins got into a scuffle with a student. He fired his gun into the air and was then shot by reserve Orlando police officer Dennis Smith, who witnesses say was nearby.
