Lakeland, FL-- Polk County Sheriff's deputies have filed nine additional charges against 23-year-old Javier Aguilar, the wanted homicide suspect shot by officials outside of his Lakeland home Tuesday morning.
Undercover detectives assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force reportedly conducted a search of his home and his car, and found quite a long list of loaded guns, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
In his car, they reportedly found an AR-15 (.223) rifle, which was confirmed stolen from Manatee County in November 2011. They also found a box of ammunition and a scale with cocaine residue on it.
Their search of the home, shared by Aguilar and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Reyna Quintanar, produced a much longer list of illegal items.
According to the affidavit, detectives found the following:
- A loaded .22 caliber handgun
- A loaded .380 Mac 10 handgun
- A BB gun
- Ammunition
- A .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with the serial number removed
- A bag containing one pound of powder cocaine (street value approximately $15,000)
- Two additional bags that contained approximately one ounce each of powder cocaine.
- A total of 527 Oxycodone tablets prepackaged in little bags (street value approximately $10,500)
- Two Xanax pills
- A scale with methamphetamine residue on it
Aguilar intially had a Manatee County warrant for his arrest for Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
He now faces multiple Drug Trafficking and Possession charges, a Grand Theft of a Firearm charge, a Maintaining a Residence for the Purpose of Trafficking Drugs charge and a Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon charge, reports say.
Quintanar, Aguilar's girlfriend, has also been charged with Drug Trafficking and Possession, Maintaining a Residence for the Purpose of Trafficking Drugs and Grand Theft of a Firearm.
Aguilar remains in law enforcement custody at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he is being treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.
"These two suspects are very dangerous criminals, and residents can sleep peacefully in their homes tonight knowing they are safely in custody. While they were fugitives from the law, they were selling illegal narcotics out of a house in Lakeland. They had several different weapons at their disposal, and given Aguilar's past history, he wasn't afraid to use them.
