Wesley Chapel, Florida -- New developments in the case of human remains found last week in Pasco County.
Detectives now confirm those bones belonged to Linda Losacano, the Wesley Chapel mother who'd been missing and feared dead for more than six months.
The bones were found not very far from Losacano's home in Wesley Chapel, so that of course raised a red flag for detectives.
Investigators worked with a specialist at USF and -- coupling that with some partial denture evidence they had taken from the home -- sadly confirmed what they had suspected.
On what would have been Linda Losacano's 50th birthday, investigators made it official.
"We can confirm that we have her. She'll be given a proper burial," said Sheriff Chris Nocco.
On May 6, Pasco deputies entered Losacano's home after concerned family members said she hadn't been seen or heard from in weeks.
When they entered the house, Losacano's long-time boyfriend, 48-year-old Timothy Arnold, killed himself with a single gunshot.
Kaylee, the couple's 6-year-old daughter, was not harmed. She now lives with relatives in New Hampshire.
"There's no reason to believe anyone else was involved in her disappearance and or her death," said Detective Daniel Toner.
Toner would not yet say how Losacano died or what the motive may have been. Relatives say she had hinted at leaving Arnold with their child.
In May, the sheriff's office launched a massive search, attempting to find Losacano.
"Using everything from bank, cell phone, all different types of records... even land searches using K-9's a mounted posse, ATV's... we searched the entire Wesley Chapel area," said Detective Toner.
But it wasn't until now that they could tell relatives what had long been suspected. The sheriff says the news for family members was "bittersweet" when they shared it Monday.
Some "closure," but still painful... and so much left unexplained.
