Bartow, Florida -- A Polk County judge in Bartow has set bond for a woman arrested over the weekend for allegedly murdering her husband.
Bond for 56-year-old Sheree Peters was set at $106,500 for charges related to the crime. Peters is charges with Manslaughter and Tampering with Evidence.
Detectives said Peters killed her husband of four years, James, and left his body for weeks inside their home along the 5500 block of Jennings Road.
Peters' sister, Angela Varnadoe, told 10 News her sister was "not in her right mind."
She said Peters had been battling drug addiction since 2004. She also stated that Sheree's husband was an alcoholic.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, family members became concerned after they hadn't heard from or seen James in three weeks.
When they went to the Peters' house on Friday, authorities said Sheree acted nervous and left. Family members then found James dead inside.
Deputies said they arrested Peters in possession of crack cocaine at a hotel in Dundee. She allegedly told them she sold the gun that killed her husband to buy drugs.
According to the detectives, she stated James was shot during a struggle with the gun.
The Peters have a history of domestic violence over the years, with multiple arrests for each of them since 2006.
