Fargo, ND (Sports Network) - Taylor Braun connected 7-of-9 attempts from
beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 26 points as the North Dakota State
Bison completed a 95-51 rout of the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in a Sun Belt
Conference opener at Bison Sports Arena.
Braun also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for NDSU (6-2, 1-0 Summit).
TrayVonn Wright and Marshall Bjorklund netted 14 points each, Lawrence
Alexander chipped in 13 points, and Chris Kading came off the bench to add 10.
Justin Simmons led Nebraska Omaha (2-6, 0-1) as it fell in its Summit League
debut.
The Bison opened up the contest with some offensive firepower as they
converted 54.5 percent of their field goal attempts and all six of their
attempts at the charity stripe in the first half. Nebraska Omaha went into
halftime trailing 49-30 after it shooting 44.8 percent from the floor in the
opening 20 minutes.
The Mavericks made only 8-of-24 field goal attempts after the intermission.
NDSU coasted to the victory by draining 8-of-12 attempts from three-point
range in the second half.
The Bison held a 39-19 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored the
visitors, 36-16, in the paint to win their first league game of the season.
