Pinellas County, Florida - Pinellas County Sheriff’s officials say the first attack took place on February 7 at nearly 2:30 a.m. The second and third shooting occurred on March 30, about 12:30 a.m. In all three shootings, officials say they believe the deputies were singled out because of the marked patrol cars parked outside of their homes.

Major Steve Allen, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office:
“No way that it’s a joke. You’re firing real firearms into people’s occupied residences. The fact that no one is injured is very fortunate. Easily these rounds could have killed anyone who was inside at the time.”

Sheriff’s officials passed out pictures showing bullet holes through a window, holes through a metal screen door and holes where a bullet pierced the gas door of a sheriff’s office cruiser. No one has been hurt, but officials fear what could happen in the future.

Major Steve Allen, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office:
“Our concern obviously is for our deputies, but we also have a concern for our public as well ... These rounds, although they are shot into the deputies’ homes, could also stray into other homes, so we have a concern for that.”

Allen urged the people responsible to come forward and close the case. It is a felony to shoot into an occupied house.

Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved. Anyone with information should call 1-800-873-TIPS.
