Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians signed infielder Mark
Reynolds on Tuesday.
No terms were disclosed, but according to MLB.com, it is a $6 million deal for
next season.
The 29-year-old hit just .221 with 23 home runs, 26 doubles and 69 RBI in 135
games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. Despite his low batting average,
Reynolds shaved his strikeouts from an AL-high 196 in 2011 down to 159 last
season.
Over six pro campaigns with the Diamondbacks and O's, Reynolds is a .235
hitter who has slugged 181 homers and drove in 501 runs over 853 games.
To make room for Reynolds on the roster, utilityman Russ Canzler was
designated for assignment.
