'Grinches' arrested, allegedly stole Christmas gifts

HOUSTON, TX (CBS Houston) Harris County deputies arrested some real-life "grinches", accused of stealing Christmas gifts from a family.

On Tuesday, HCSO Deputy S. Loftin responded to a call about several suspects taking Christmas gifts from an unlocked vehicle located on Crimson Canyon, in northwest Harris County.

"The complainant told the deputy that as her husband was pulling into their driveway he noticed a man getting out of her car and then jump into a white Chevy Tahoe waiting nearby. The husband followed the suspects' vehicle and was able to gate a partial license plate number," stated officials from the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Dep. Loftin then provided the partial plate number and the description of the suspects to other deputies in the department. HCSO Deputy J. Pietsch shared with colleagues that he had located a vehicle with three suspects fitting the description of the car that was wanted in the theft. Deputy stopped Pietsch stopped the truck at Battlecreek and Millbrook.

"All the suspects and the vehicle were returned to the original scene where the complainant made a positive identification," added the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Upon an inspection inside the suspects' vehicle as well as in plain view, officials found several bags of items as well as other property that had just been allegedly stolen. HCSO stated that the items were returned to their rightful owner.

Upon an extensive investigation and questioning, deputies arrested 17-year-old Guillermo Lozada and charged him with Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. "A second suspect, a juvenile, was also charged with burglary of a motor vehicle," added the HCSO. A third suspect who was questioned, was not charged and was later released.
