Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman who was passed out with drugs within reach of her five-month-old son.
On April 2, deputies received an anonymous call requesting a welfare check on a child at Sloan Avenue in Sarasota. When deputies got there they reportedly found Andrea Keesling unconscious and hanging off a reclining chair.
Keesling's infant son was strapped in a car seat on the floor with a crushed codeine pill one foot away from him.
The child, who has Down Syndrome, was hungry and in need of a diaper change. Deputies attempted to wake Keesling who eventually woke up when deputies shook her.
Keesling was charged with child neglect, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction.
The child is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
