STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — President Bush says he's "shocked and dismayed." He's the latest to weigh-in on the e-mail scandal involving former congressman Mark Foley of Florida.

Bush says he supports the call from House Speaker Dennis Hastert for a full investigation.

Speaking in California during a campaign trip for Republican lawmakers, Bush said, "This investigation should be thorough, and any violation of the law should be prosecuted."

There have been calls for Hastert to resign — including one call from the Washington Times newspaper. But Bush says he's confident that Hastert will be able to resolve the matter.

He says, "I know that he wants all the facts to come out and he wants to ensure that these children up there on Capitol Hill are protected."

Hastert today brushed aside any suggestion of resignation.
