Lakeland, Florida - Police have two suspects in custody after a bank robbery and a 10-mile chase with four accidents.
Police say 29-year-old John Paul Olson of Lakeland robbed the Suntrust bank on South Florida Avenue just after 11:00 Friday morning.
A witness told police the robber put his bicycle into the back of a white pickup truck and the chase was on.
A police helicopter followed the truck until a patrol car rammed it on state highway 98 near Sleepy Hill Road.
- Jack Gillen, Lakeland Police Spokesman
- We were very fortunate today we had our helicopter up. You can't run from a helicopter, they didn't have a chance. They really didn't have a chance and we're all happy it ended this way.
Police say the bank robbery suspect's brother drove the getaway truck. He's identified as 23-year-old Michael Olson of Lakeland.
Police say none of the drivers involved in the accidents were seriously injured.
