Jacksonville, FL - A Florida soldier died in an ambush Monday while on patrol in Afghanistan.
Army Specialist Isaiah Calloway of Jacksonville served for three years and had been in Afghanistan since early July.
The soldiers training with the 23-year-old soldier for deployment to Afghanistan seemed to have a hard time keeping up with him, according to his wife.
She said her husband loved to draw and hoped to become an engineer. The couple met their junior year at Englewood High School in Jacksonville, where he led the ROTC drill squad to third place in a national competition.
Besides his wife, Calloway is survived by their three children, ages four, three and two.
