St. Petersburg, Florida - A 19-year-old man fell asleep at the wheel and backed into a house this morning, according to St. Petersburg Police.

Officers on scene say the young man dropped off a friend at a house across the street from where the accident occurred on Arkansas Avenue at Cheyenne Street. He fell asleep with the engine running and with the car in reverse. His foot came off the brake and the car backed into the house.

Initially, officers were called to the area about a suspicious vehicle. Then on the way to the scene, officers heard a call about a loud banging noise— and that was the car hitting the house.

The driver received a ticket. He was not hurt.
