St. Petersburg, Florida - It looks like Elijah Dukes will remain in the headlines for a while, for what he does both on the field and off it.
Dukes reportedly has a custody hearing scheduled for tomorrow that will determine if he will be allowed to see the two children he has with his estranged wife.
He is also grabbing the headlines with hits like the one he had against the Detroit Tigers. Dukes belted a shot to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning, which gave the Devil Rays a 6-5 comeback win against Detroit.
Dukes has had a great week on the field, but a very turbulent one off of it.
The Detroit Tigers' Gary Sheffield is offering a helping hand to Dukes. Sheffield says he is willing to help the Rays player through his tough times.
Sheffield is a local product. Both he and Dukes starred at Hillsborough high school in Tampa.
