Detroit, MI - Detroit scored touchdowns after two Jeff Garcia turnovers and beat visiting Tampa Bay 23-16.
The Buccaneers lost a chance to move past idle Carolina in the NFC South and dropped to a record of four wins and three losses on the season. Garcia, who played in Detroit for one forgettable season two years ago, had not had a turnover in his first five games with the Bucs.
Garcia finished 37-of-45 for a season-high 316 yards with two TDs and no picks. He has now thrown 270 passes without an interception dating back to last season for the longest active streak in the NFL.
Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna was 16-of-20 for 147 yards without a score or a turnover.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers return specialist Mark Jones left the game due to a knee injury. Jones held his left knee after being tackled on a kickoff return late in the first quarter, and was later carted off the field.
Jones entered the game among the NFL return leaders, averaging 30.3 yards on kickoff returns and 11.9 yards on punt returns.
Michael Bennett saw his first action at running back for Tampa Bay, which acquired him in a trade Tuesday from Kansas City for an undisclosed draft pick. Bennett gained 22 yards on three carries, but ripped off one for an 18 yard run.
Bucs' starting running back Earnest Graham rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries, and also had 99 yards receiving on 13 catches. The Bucs have been reeling in the backfield, missing Carnell "Cadillac" Williams and Michael Pittman because of injuries.
