Dunedin, Florida- A fight between four girls at Dunedin High School in Pinellas County forced Sheriff’s Deputies to pepper spray the crowd leaving dozens of students and school employees with burning eyes and gasping for air.

“I was like choking on it. My face turned completely red, my eyes were watering. It was hard to breathe,” says Dunedin High School sophomore Cassi Boggi.

The fight broke out near the school’s busy cafeteria shortly before noon. Sheriff’s deputies say close to 200 students gathered around those fighting making it difficult for administrators and school resource officers to break up the brawl at the center of the crowd. One student said deputies warned students to move away just before releasing the pepper spray.

29 students and 18 adults were checked out by paramedics. Two other school employees had to be transported to the hospital after complaining of breathing problems.

All four girls involved in the fight, two fourteen year olds and two sixteen year olds, were charged with disorderly conduct and were booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center.
