St. Pete police search for arsonist

St. Petersburg, Florida - St. Pete Fire and Rescue investigators are searcing for an arsonist. They say someone intentionally set 9 fires set within a span of 4 hours.

The first was called in at 11:19 p.m., Sunday night. A truck was set on fire behind Mehr Reality, on 42nd Street. It then spread to the building.

At 12:06 a.m., on 3651 1st Ave South, an old U-haul truck at the Church of Mary Magdalene was set on fire.

Between 1:16 a.m. and 1:25 a.m., 3 fires were set involving mattresses, dumpsters and trash along the 4th Avenue corridor between 36th and 58th street.

At 2:20 a.m. on 4500 5th Avenue South, a dumpster burned to the ground.

Shortly after that, at 4530 5th Avenue, a shed and mattress caught on fire.

At 2:52 a.m. on 64th street 1st Avenue North at the Auracle Salon and Day Spa. A dumpster there was set on fire and burned to ground. Flames spread to the building, damaging one side of the spa and the roof.

At the same time, at 2:52 a.m. at 4948 Central Aveue a fire was set at vacant building.

No one was injured and there are no suspects in custody. Police are also looking for any witnesses.
