Dade City, Florida- The owner of a Blue Heeled Australian Cattle Dog says she took her pet into a local animal clinic last month and hasn’t seen her dog since. Veterinary staff say the dog named Abbie slipped off her leash October 24th before escaping under a chain link fence.

“You think a four foot fence, they would jump it, but she came underneath it, and powered her way up underneath,” says Chet Taylor, the veterinarian who owns the clinic.

Lori Davis believes the dog may have been on the loose for several hours before she was notified. She and clinic staff searched throughout the evening hours but did not locate the dog.

“You’re devastated. You hope you get to her in time before a car does,” said Davis who feels like her dogs are like part of the family. She even showed off a family photo featuring Abbie and her husband dressed like cowboys.

Davis hopes someone spotted her dog along busy Highway 301. “Maybe her collar slipped off so they don’t know she belongs to somebody,” Davis said.

Abbie is about knee high with a docked tail, weighs 50 pounds, and has a speckled coat.
