Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee has offered a written apology to Brian Sterner. This comes after four deputies were suspended following an incident where Sterner -- who is quadriplegic -- was dumped out of a wheelchair while being booked into jail.

"This incident will be investigated to the fullest," Gee says in the statement. "I am personally embarrassed and shocked by the horrific treatment Mr. Sterner received."

The letter was submitted after Sterner appeared on the Today show to talk about how he was treated when he was booked into jail.

Surveillance video captured the incident, showing a deputy walk behind Sterner in his wheelchair, and then lifting the wheelchair up, forcing Sterner to drop face-first onto the ground. Currently, four deputies have been suspended while an investigation is under way.
