Tampa, Florida — Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Jeff Garcia strongly reiterated his desire for a new contract after the team's workout this afternoon.
Garcia is currently under contract for the 2008 season. He said his agent and the Buccaneers were to discuss a new deal on Friday, May 9th, but the team postponed those talks.
The quarterback said, "You want players to go out and give everything they have and lay their bodies on the line, lay their hearts on the line, well we want you to lay something on the line, too. That's really what it comes down to."
The quarterback also went to bat for running back Earnest Graham, who has not attended the Bucs organized team activities so far this spring. Garcia said Graham also deserves a new deal.
Training camp starts July 25th. Garcia said he does not think he'll hold out, but he would not eliminate that possibility entirely.
