Tallahassee Police admitted Friday that Rachel Hoffman didn't have official "confidential informant" training but that she was briefed on security procedures prior to the attempted drug bust.

TPD officials said they didn't train Hoffman because she was already involved in the drug business and knew what she was doing. She was, however, allegedly working with a case agent, who's name has not yet been released. They also said DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) was also involved with the operation.

They also said efforts were made to try and stop Hoffman from leaving the established operational safe environment.

TPD declined to make further comments because they said this is an active and ongoing investigation, now in the hands of Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Hoffman was a former FSU student who was in legal trouble for drug possession. That's when Tallahassee Police offered a lesser penalty for her cooperation as a confidential informant.

Hoffman's job was to buy marijuana, ecstasy and a gun from 2 men: Andrea Green and Daneilo Bradshaw. Police said secure measures were in place and Hoffman had some sort of monitoring device on her but declined to comments as to what went wrong with that monitoring device and how they lost her.

Hoffman disappeared shortly after the two suspects asked to change locations for the exchange.

Andrea Green and Daneilo Bradshaw supposedly showed police to her body 2 days later. They are being held without bond on kidnapping and robbery charges but no murder charges have been filed yet.

Tallahassee Police spokesman Officer David McCranie said they've successfully had 414 confidential informants since 2000.

Earlier this week, FDLE took over the investigation and the Attorney General's office announced its involvement regarding the reviewing of TPD's policies and procedures.
