Painters create wearable art

Dunedin, Florida - They may be nearly silent sneakers, but these shoes actually talk a lot. With the motorcycle and Harley-Davidson logo, they actually have a lot to say about their owner Johnny Gilleland.

"Every time I pull up on my Harley, everybody checks out my shoes," says a walking tall Gilleland.

So how do you get your hands on and your feet into some of this fancy footwear? You have to hook up with some poolside painters. With brush, paint and imagination, Rasta Geary Taylor and Jesse Kiebzak are helping people put their best foot forward.

"This is what I call wearable art," says Taylor while painting a sandal with a Beatles' Yellow Submarine theme.

"I've done sneakers for a 12-year-old and I've done sneakers for a 55-year-old," adds Kiebzak while working on some football footwear.

Each piece they create is unique. The artworks fit each client, not like a glove, but like a shoe.

"Basically, whatever you prefer, whatever your style is can be incorporated on the sneaker," says Kiebzak.

Depending on the complexity, these running Rembrandts run anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars.
