St. Petersburg, Florida -- All of us here at Tampa Bay's 10 are very pleased to announce Tammie Souza will be joining WTSP as Chief Meteorologist.
A highly credentialed Meteorologist, Souza has been certified with the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist AMS Seal from the American Meteorological Society and has earned the NWA Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. Additionally, she serves on the prestigious boards of both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.
Souza comes to Tampa Bay from Chicago where she was the Weekend Meteorologist at NBC's WMAQ from 2000-2006, then Morning and Noon Meteorologist at FOX's WFLD from 2006-2008. Prior to working in Chicago, she worked at WDJT in Milwaukee and started her career at KHSL in Chico, CA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Science from San Diego State University.
"Tammie has impressive credentials along with an engaging personality," said Sam Rosenwasser, Tampa Bay's 10 President & General Manager. "She is someone who has the training and experience you can trust during times of severe weather, and enjoy during calmer days. We are very excited to have her joining us."
Tammie Souza will join Tampa Bay's 10 in October.
Longtime WTSP Chief Meteorologist and broadcasting legend Dick Fletcher passed away from a stroke in February. No one will ever be able to replace "Fletch" in our hearts and minds, but we're excited to have Tammie join the team.
