Tallahassee -- Gov. Charlie Crist and the Florida Cabinet are set to discuss a controversial deal to spend millions for a new road in Central Florida.
Crist and the Cabinet will decide Tuesday if the state should
spend $9.93 million as part of an overall $28 million purchase
needed to build the Wekiva Parkway, a segment of a beltway circling Orlando.
An earlier more expensive deal was voted down by Crist and the
Cabinet two weeks ago after the governor and Chief Financial
Officer Alex Sink called it a waste of tax dollars.
The Cabinet will also discuss whether to maintain some state
control over building in the Florida Keys and whether to ask
lawmakers to make it easier to impound the cars of drivers who
drive without a valid license.
