St. Petersburg, FL - If you're thinking of getting into shape in 2009, there are some important tips to make sure you fulfill your New Year's resolution. Experts say you should start small. Don't make imposiible goals that are too far reaching. Most people quit faster because they can't accomplish those goals.

Here are the top five myths about fitness:

1. Exercise is all that matters.

Experts say a proper diet and lifestyle are essential to meeting your goals. That means you can't eat whatever you want just because you're working out.

2. It's possible to melt away fat from target areas.

Trainers say that it doesn't work. You have to have a full body workout to burn fat in those problem areas.

3. It's okay to work your abs every day.

Your abs are like every other muscle. You need to alternate the muscles you workout. Excersing your abs two or three times a week is more efficient.

4. Women will bulk up.

You have to use really large weights to bulk up.

5. No pain, no gain.

It is not necessary workout to the point where you're sore just to get results. In fact, trainers say beginners should start slow and then make their routine more challenging as they go.

Every year, millions of Americans say they're gonna get in shape. Hopefully, these tips will help you follow through this year.
