Brooksville, Florida – Charles Daniel Aaron is behind bars facing a slew of charges after a crash that left two passengers injured and for leading police on a chase through part of Hernando County.
At around 10 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff's office says the 44 year-old was drunk behind the wheel of a Toyota pickup with passengers Michelle Webb and Brittanie Prater.
The trio got out of the car and that is when Aaron allegedly jumped back into the vehicle and took off.
While trying to get away, an HCSO helicopter in the sky and units on the ground spotted him and started to follow.
They put out stop sticks, which eventually caused him to slow down and stop, but when deputies began to move in he took off – driving only on the rims of the truck.
About five minutes later, Aaron eventually pulled over and K9 Judge Topper pulled him from the truck by his left forearm.
Investigators say they found an open can of Natural Ice in truck and that Aaron showed signs of alcohol impairment.
Michelle Webb, 20, was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa where she is listed in critical condition.
The condition of Brittanie Prater, 14, who was transported by ground to Bayfront Health Brooksville, is unknown.
According to the sheriff's office, Aaron had an active warrant for his arrest from the Florida Parole Commissioner for burglary of an occupied conveyance.
His license has also been revoked since 1996 and the truck he was driving had been reported stolen out of Ocala.
He is currently being held in the Hernando jail with at least 10 charges against him.
