Tampa Day School principal arrested

Tampa, FL - James Larkin was like a surrogate dad to the child he is accused of molesting. He befriend both the victim and his mother after the child's father passed away. Larkin would take the child to "Dad Club" meetings and other recreational activities.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, on March 7th, 2014 when the student's mother was out of town for the weekend, Larkin ended up babysitting. During that evening, Larkin entered the child's room, laid down beside him and put his hands down the front of the child's pants. He then began inappropriately touching him. The victim complained and Larkin stopped and left the room.

During the investigation, a recorded call was made between Larkin and the child and during that call, Larkin admitted to the allegations and that his actions were inappropriate.

Larkin's was arrested late Thursday afternoon at his residence and booked into the Orient Road Jail.

At this time, detectives are not aware of any other victim(s) or that James Larkin committed any inappropriate activity while at the school. Detectives have had full cooperation of the school's administration.

The investigation is still ongoing.
