Tampa fender bender leaves one man stabbed

Tampa, Florida -- A fender bender accident on MacDill Avenue on Wednesday turned into an argument that has left a 22-year-old man stabbed.

The incident started when Steven Baker, driving a white Toyota Avalon, rear-ended a black Audi driven in the northbound lanes of MacDill Avenue, just south of Bay to Bay Boulevard, according to Tampa police.

Both vehicles pulled over into the parking lot of the Bay Oaks Apartments.

A passenger in the Audi, Robert Suarez, 37, then got out to talk to Baker, 22, and one of his passengers, Torrie Worthy, 23, police said. The discussion turned into an argument.

Worthy and Baker started to punch Suarez, who pulled a knife and stabbed Baker, according to police. Suarez then started first aid on Baker, who was seriously injured and taken to Tampa General Hospital. Suarez was treated at the scene for cuts to his head, wrist, legs and knees.

Baker was listed in good condition later Wednesday.

Charges are pending, police said.
