Teacher, former secretary charged for prom party

New Port Richey, Florida -- A Pasco County teacher and former school secretary have been formally charged in an incident where they allegedly threw students a prom party.

The state attorney's office has decided to move forward with charging J.W. Mitchell High School teacher 43-year-old Samantha Murchie with allowing minors to drink alcohol at an open house party, a second degree misdemeanor.

The party took place back on April 27 at the home of former secretary 52-year-old Lynn Worker. She faces the same charges.

Pasco deputies say about 30 to 40 students were at the party.
