Teenagers caught after hitting Pasco detective

Two teenagers are in custody after they tried to run over a Pasco County deputy when he found them sleeping in a stolen vehicle.

The juveniles, a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were being sought by the Zephyrhills Police Department for grand theft auto and robbery.

About 7 a.m. Wednesday, a Pasco deputy found the teens sleeping in the vehicle on Sutorus Road in Crystal Springs and tried to take them into custody, the sheriff's office said. The teens were able to flee.

The, about 2 p.. Thursday, a Pasco detective saw the two teens and they tried to flee again. The teens hit the detective in the leg with the vehicle, he fired his weapon at the car and the vehicle got stuck, the sheriff's office said. He took the teens into custody.

The teens were not injured and the deputy has only minor injuries, according to the Pasco sheriff.
