Two teenagers were badly hurt when they crashed a stolen vehicle Sunday, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.
About 11:23 a.m., a white Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 14-year-old was speeding west down 11th Avenue South, police said. A 15-year-old was in the passenger's seat.
The car struck a dip in the road while crossing 40th Avenue South, and the driver lost control, police said.
The Camaro left the road and struck a tree. Both teens had to be extricated from the car by St. Petersburg firefighters. They were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
The driver received serious injuries, while the passenger received life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, police found out the car had been stolen. Criminal charges are pending.
We are withholding the teens' named because of their ages.
