Temple Terrace road rage ends in gun shots

Temple Terrace, Florida -- Police are investigating a road rage incident in which a man fired gun shots at another motorist who threatened him with a baseball bat.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the entrance to Terrace Walk Plaza at the corner of N. 53rd Street and E. Fowler Avenue in Temple Terrace.

According to police, 23-year-old Adrian C. Fedrick, Jr. was making a wide turn after exiting the Burger King parking lot at Terrace Walk Plaza. Fedrick said a truck carrying two men pulled into the parking lot as he was leaving. The men apparently were angry about Fedrick's driving, and a verbal altercation ensued. The driver of the truck parked, then exited the vehicle with a baseball bat and began chasing Fedrick's car down 53rd Street.

Fedrick said he believed the man was going to strike the back of his vehicle with the bat, so he stopped in front of KinderCare, at 11501 N. 53rd St. He started to get out of his car but tripped and fell to the ground.

At that point, Fedrick said, the man charged at him with the baseball bat.

Fearing he was about to be struck by the bat, Fedrick pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired three shots toward his attacker. The man then fled on foot. Investigators do not believe he was shot during the incident. Fedrick is licensed to carry a concealed firearm in the State of Florida.

Police are seeking a white male, about 20-30 years old, last seen wearing a black shirt with possibly khaki shorts. The two men were riding in an unknown make and model red pickup truck.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Temple Terrace Police Department at (813) 989-7110.
