Two involved in early morning crash identified

Tampa, Florida -- The Tampa Police Department has identified the two individuals involved in the early morning car crash on Saturday.

Homicide units were on scene early Saturday morning after a crash on East Lake Avenue and 46th Street. Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the vehicle was involved in a 'shots fired' call in the 3700 Block of Lowry Court that happened earlier in the morning.

At 3:37 a.m., witnesses reported seeing a black Honda Civic fleeing the shooting scene at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the Honda Civic and crashed a short distance away.

The two occupants of the Honda Civic have been identified as Willie Boyd III and Algernon Belin Jr. Detectives are still working to identify which occupant was driving the car.

The vehicle involved in both the 'shots fired' call and the crash was reported stolen from the Hollywood Nights club earlier in the morning.

The investigations into the stolen vehicle report, 'shots fired' call and vehicle crash are still on going.
