U.S. Marshals searching for Bay Area fugitive

Tampa, Florida -- The search is on for a man who has escaped his residence after killing and injuring people in a DUI related accident.

On July 19, 2012, Christopher Ponce was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-275 when he collided with another vehicle, killing the driver and injuring two passengers. Ponce was arrested for DUI and later charged with DUI Manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI with serious bodily injury, and reckless driving.

Ponce, age 24, was last known to reside in Tampa and his whereabouts have been unknown since May 9, 2013, when Ponce removed his ankle monitor and fled.

Ponce could be anywhere across the U.S. or beyond and it is important to remind the public not to attempt to apprehend Ponce, but to report any information to the U.S. Marshals Service or their local police.

The search for Ponce will also be featured on the CNN Original Series The Hunt with John Walsh. The episode will air Sunday August 3, 2014 at 9 p.m. on CNN.
