Vehicle careens off I-275, killing driver and injuring another

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A woman was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 275 at the Interstate 175 interchange on Sunday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that driver Aishia Charmeika Musgrove, 34, of St. Pete, lost control of her Dodge Durango while traveling southbound on I-275 exit ramp to I-175.

The Durango then left the roadway and hit the concrete barrier, which sent the vehicle off the elevated overpass and onto the ground 70 feet below. The vehicle came to a final stop after it had overturned.

The crash killed Musgrove at the scene. Her passenger, Shulita Haskins, 28, of Clearwater, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she is listed in serious condition.

FHP said that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but both Musgrove and Haskins were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
