St. Petersburg police arrested 28-year-old Ashley Marie Ramirez of Brandon early Thursday morning after Ramirez allegedly robbed two Bay area retail stores.
According to police, the first robbery occurred at the CVS store at 8001 MLK St. N in St. Petersburg at 1:48 a.m. Police say Ramirez purchased a candy bar inside the store and put a knife to the cashier’s neck when the cash register was opened. She grabbed some money and fled the CVS in a white Pontiac.
About two hours later, police say, a similar robbery occurred at the Circle K at 4801 W. Gandy Blvd. in Tampa. Tampa officers followed the white Pontiac across the Gandy Bridge back into St. Petersburg. Ramirez, attempting to elude pursuit, returned to the original CVS store, jumped out of the still-moving car and ran inside the CVS.
The unmanned car then struck a pillar in front of the store, and Tampa officers arrested Ramirez, who was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
She was charged by St. Petersburg police with armed robbery, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, possession of a controlled substance (hydromorphone) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tampa Police is still working on its pending charges for Ramirez.
