St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Pete Fire Rescue has pulled out a man who fell into a 20-foot hole.
The 57-year-old man was working on a lift station at 92nd Avenue N and 3rd Street. He reportedly didn't see a sewer hole that was being dug and fell about 20 feet, suffering several injuries.
St. Pete Fire Rescue Lt. Steve Lawrence says the man was part of a crew with Cloote Construction who were performing work on the lift station, which is part of the sanitary sewer system.
Paramedics took their time to carefully and safely pull the man up from out of the hole. A heavy equipment team used a tripod system -- which had a cable wire attached to it -- lower rescue equipment and secure the man in the confined space.
It took about an hour to remove the man, who was then placed on a stretcher and taken to Bayfront Health Center.
