Man picks wrong place to pee, Polk deputies say

A prowler who is also a registered sex offender picked a poor place to make a pit stop, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

According to an affidavit, Polk County Deputy Nataly Aguirre was sitting in her patrol car in the driveway of her Lake Wales home when she saw Christopher Couch, 36, of Lake Wales walking out of her backyard. Aguirre got out of the car and held Couch at gunpoint.

She said she told Couch to get his ID, and as they were walking to his car to retrieve it, he told her he had gone into the backyard to urinate, the affidavit said.

Aguirre called for backup, and Deputy Michael Waldron arrived. He questioned Couch, who said he was a registered sex offender.

Couch's car was parked next to an orange grove. When asked why he had not simply gone into the grove to urinate, Couch did not have a good answer, the affidavit said, insisting he only went into the backyard to urinate.

Couch was charged with loitering or prowling. Bail was set at $250.
