Manatee rescued from storm drain

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. -- A manatee and its baby were rescued from a Crystal River storm drain around 8:30 PM, Sept. 2, 2016, by the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

The manatees were stranded in the drain after facing really high storm surges and had no access to water.

Due to the efforts of CRNWR, the manatees were rescued and released into a nearby canal.

It was Joyce Palmer, the new refuge manager's, first manatee rescue.
