Spring Hill, Florida -- A mother of two was arrested today for biting her five-year-old son on the cheek because he wasn't eating fast enough, the Hernando Sheriff's Office said.

Zhifang Chen, 29, was charged with one count of child abuse.

The arrest affidavit states Chen intentionally inflicted injury "by using her teeth to bite her child about his face (right cheek), resulting in obvious teeth impressions."

The incident happened as she was trying to get her him and a 7-year-old sibling ready for school.

The sheriff's office said a teacher noticed the injury on the child's face and notified the authorities.

Chen told deputies her son "was not eating fast enough, which made his mother angry, at which time she bit him on the cheek."

"Upon speaking with the defendant," the affidavit reported, "she advised she did not intentionally harm her child and states she was just playing around."

Chen was taken to the county jail and held without bond.
